Increase in Visa and Professional Card Fees for Foreigners in Algeria

Upcoming changes for foreigners wishing to travel to Algeria for tourism or work. The Finance Bill (PLF 2025), which will soon be discussed in Parliament, introduces new rates for visa and professional card fees for those wishing to travel or work in Algeria.

The 2025 Finance Bill provides for a new pricing on stamp duties for visas and professional cards issued to foreign nationals. Article 48 of the 2025 Finance Bill provides for a tax for each visa issued to foreigners. For example, permanent exit or exit and return visas will each cost 500 Algerian dinars (DZD).

For regularization visas, stamp duties vary depending on the duration: 5,000 DZD for a visa valid for 1 to 2 days, 10,000 DZD for a validity of 3 to 7 days, 20,000 DZD for a visa valid for 8 to 10 days, 25,000 DZD for a validity of 11 to 15 days and 50,000 DZD for a regularization visa valid for up to 30 days.

Different types of visas affected by the price increase in Algeria

Regarding the transit visa valid for 1 to 7 days, the 2025 Finance Bill provides for a stamp duty of 1,000 DZD. Extension visas, requested by foreigners wishing to extend their stay in Algeria, will also be subject to stamp duty. A visa extended from 1 to 15 days will cost 5,000 DZD, that of 6 to 30 days is set at 10,000 DZD while an extension from 46 to 90 days will cost 20,000 DZD.

As for professional cards, essential for foreigners exercising a commercial, craft, or liberal activity in Algeria, the PLF 2025 provides in its article 51, a stamp duty of 30,000 DZD. In the event of a change of professional status (student or salaried worker to trader for example), a stamp duty of 70,000 DZD will be applied. In the event of loss or damage of the card, the same article provides for a tax of 15,000 DZD in addition to the stamp duty applied on the issuance of this document.
