Tunisia is starting its 2022 summer season quite well. After two difficult years due to the health crisis, tourism is reviving and hotels, which were on the edge of a financial abyss, can finally breathe.
It is an increase of more than 50% in tourism revenues which was observed until June 10, 2022, compared to the year 2021, indicates the central bank of Tunisia. It is also a 100% increase in the number of tourists, which exceeded 2 million according to figures from the Tunisian National Tourist Office reported by the Gnet site.
Hotels in Tunisia: How much does it cost this summer?
However, there is another increase that has been observed since the beginning of this month of July. That of hotel prices. In Tunisia, since the beginning of the summer season, many hotels have doubled or even tripled their prices.
It is easy to think that this attitude adopted by several hotels in Tunisia aims to make up for the shortfall. These establishments have spent two summer seasons without tourists, so they are taking advantage of the return of the latter to compensate for their losses by increasing prices.
However, it should be remembered that during the health crisis, there were still hotels in Tunisia that were full. Forced to lower their prices, they saw their season saved by local tourism.
Hotels in Tunisia: A wide choice but high prices
Tunisia is a country that relies heavily on tourism. Travelers will therefore have a wide range of choices between several hotels in Tunisia. However, there are several ranges. The country has establishments for all scholarships.
First, there is the high end. These are the hotels located in the largest resort towns of the country. Here are some examples of prices:
A night in a 5-star hotel in Sousse costs 700 Tunisian dinars, or just over โฌ220.
In Hammamet, the price of a night in a 5-star hotel (half-board) can exceed 820 Tunisian dinars, or nearly โฌ260.
A night in a 5-star hotel in Djerba costs around 800 Tunisian dinars. Just over โฌ250.
Since the top of the range is not accessible to all, Tunisia also offers 3-star hotels.
A room in 4 and 3-star hotels in Sousse will cost between 260 and 360 Tunisian dinars, or about 100 โฌ.
In Djerba, a night costs around 200 Tunisian dinars, or more than 60 euros in All INCLUSIVE in a 3-star hotel.
There are of course other less expensive hotels, whose price per night is around 90 Tunisian dinars, or nearly 30 โฌ.
Tourists can also opt for special offers, promotions, or packs offered by travel agencies. They can also choose guest houses, which are developing in Tunisia.
