Morocco would seriously consider adopting a health pass for MREs and tourists. A vaccination passport that will take the form of a vaccination certificate and which will allow safe travel with fewer restrictions possible, according to the expert, Malika Lahnait, lawyer at the Paris Bar, specialist in air transport and tourism law.
Far from 13 million visitors in 2019, the international tourism market in Morocco has experienced a vertiginous drop due to the Covid according to the UNWTO. The solution could be the vaccination passport. This is what we can understand from the development made by the tourism expert, Malika Lahnait in an interview with Atlasinfo. According to her, this system will allow Morocco to set up an electronic registration platform for all tourists and MRE vaccinated without endangering public health.
A source at the Ministry of Health said the Moroccan health passport will take the form of an anti-Covid-19 vaccination certificate, which travelers will soon be able to download from the official website of the vaccination campaign. โOn the Liqahcorona.ma portal, there is a section where you can retrieve a vaccination certificate, as soon as the two doses of vaccine have been completed. For the moment, this section is deactivated, but once the second doses will start to be administered, the certificate will be downloadableโ, indicates the ministry.
But this ambition could be delayed because of the demands of the European Union, recalls Malika Lahnait, according to whom space will only accept people who have benefited from a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency.
However, the Chinese vaccine used in Morocco as in many other countries is not yet authorized in Europe, just like the Sputnik vaccine. It is, therefore, to be hoped that the European authorities will revise their position in order to welcome tourists from around the world, she concludes.
