Google Accused in Europe of Stealing User Data

The American giant Google has just been accused by European consumer associations of violating users’ online privacy by exploiting their data for profit.

Google’s registration process has been heavily criticized by European consumer groups. The latter have filed new complaints relating to the protection of privacy.

This complaint accuses Google of intentionally designing the default settings in such a way as to mislead new users, and induce them to authorize the collection and sharing of a number of people’s information.

“Contrary to what Google claims about consumer privacy, tens of millions of Europeans were put on the fast track to surveillance when they opened a Google account,” said Ursula Pachl. , Deputy Director of BEUC (European Bureau of Consumers’ Unions).
