From his cell, the retired general Ali Ghediri again sent a letter to public opinion. In his letter, read on the occasion of a lively press conference on Saturday, April 24 by the committee for his release, the detainee did not go by the back of the spoon to castigate power.
“When arbitrariness sets itself up in the functioning of institutions and the penitentiary establishments of the Republic are diverted from their primary vocation, to serve as places of confinement for those whom the power designates as opponents to stifle the voices, the silence becomes a guarantee and complicity a posture assumed so as not to say more,” wrote Ali Ghediri in his letter.
And to add: “It is in particular thus, when these opponents only express an opinion, an idea, a project of society, or, only to be a candidate for the presidential elections with the promise to break with the system which brought Algeria to its knees ”.
“I assume it should, I pay for it at the cost of my life”
Ali Ghediri affirms that he will follow through on his ideas, even if it means paying the cost of his life. “When fundamental freedoms are lacking, these banal acts, these forms of citizen expression are assimilated by decision-makers to a crime; if it is, I assume it should I pay the price of my life”, he indeed maintained.
Speaking on the Hirak, the candidate for the presidential election canceled from April 2019 believes that this movement “embodies by its form as much as by its content, we can not better the extension of the revolution of November 1, 1954, and the resolutions of Congress of Soummam”.

He also called on citizens to stay the course: “Watch out for his patriotic trajectory. Preserve the course to protect it against any attempt of infiltration, recovery, and ideological holdup”
It should be noted that during the conference, the Committee for the Release of Ali Ghediri reaffirmed that the detainee’s file was empty. “Ali Ghediri’s file is empty. I even think of deconstructing myself, as long as there is nothing to defend,” said Miloud Brahimi. This committee also intends to refer the matter to the Head of State.
