The new immigration law is the subject of several debates that are going around France at the moment. While the Republicans have unveiled their anti-immigration project, the ministry says it is ready to set new conditions to toughen its system on undocumented workers.
As a reminder, the President of the Republicans previously announced the main axes of his project, which aims initially to set the number of entries into French territory. And this, “in order to allow France to resume its destiny in terms of immigration”.
Residence of 7 years, income at 1.5 smic, CDI: France ready to review the system for regularizing undocumented workers
Last Sunday, the French Interior Ministry told AFP that it is ready to review the conditions of its system for regularizing foreign workers. And this, to agree with the political party of the Republicans.
The current system, presented by Gรฉrald Darmanin, sets the condition of being in France for 3 years, but also that of having worked at least 18 months in a job in tension and having a promise of employment. Moreover, according to Beauvau, the Ministry of the Interior is ready to review these conditions to have a โreasonableโ compromise with the Rights.
In addition, the Ministry of the Interior would be ready to increase the condition of residence, in France, to five, six, or even seven years. But also, to fix the income at 1.5 Smic. And include in this axis of the new immigration law the obligation to have a permanent contract.
In addition to these axes, a subject is added to this list which is open to revision possibilities. This is particularly the case of social assistance. Indeed, the French Minister of the Interior has previously declared that he is open to a debate to review the terms of this aid, which the LR party also wants to limit to emergency medical aid.
