While Moroccans continue to express a rfed up with the refusal of Schengen visa applications by the French consular services, France has announced that it is suspending the reduction of Visa for Tunisians.
An official decision was announced on Wednesday, August 31 by the French and Tunisian interior ministers in a joint press release.
This normalization was decided with “immediate effect”, specified the two ministers, Taoufik Charfeddine and Gérald Darmanin who spoke by telephone.
As a reminder, in September 2021, France had decided to restrict the issuance of visas in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia, in order to encourage these countries to make efforts in terms of cooperation and the fight against illegal immigration. Thus, the refusal rate had reached 30% in Tunisia and 50% for Morocco and Algeria.
At the French interior ministry, it was explained that Tunisia was the first of the three countries to have lifted the health tests required to be able to enter the territory. In addition, “the great progress made” by Tunisia in terms of cooperation was underlined.
It was planned that the mechanism for reducing the number of visas issued by France to nationals of these countries could be reviewed according to the “efforts” made.
The two ministers agreed to redo a joint assessment of cooperation on “all issues of common interest by the end of the year”.
