Fifa Day: Algeria Avoids the Guinean Trap, Mali Offers Zambia

Mali disposed of Zambia (1-0) in a friendly at the March 26 stadium in Bamako on Friday. In Oran, Algeria won with difficulty against Guinea (1-0).

Algeria hosted Guinea on Friday evening in its brand new stadium in Oran. A friendly meeting counting for the preparations for the CAN 2023 qualifiers (postponed to 2024) in Cรดte d’Ivoire. And on arrival, the Fennecs won with a narrow score of 1-0.

Held in check for a long time, the Algerians had to resort to their guards to get out of the Guinean trap. Indeed, it took the entry of the usual executives like Belaรฏli or Riyad Mahrez to see the Fennecs head out of the water. A wake-up call embodied by the indestructible Slimani, transformed into the savior of the Greens, who scored the only goal of the game on a cross from Mahrez (1-0, 78′). A score that the Fennecs will keep until the final whistle despite light pressure from the opposing team at the end of the game.

Mali ensures against Zambia

In the other game of the evening, Mali offered a small victory in its March 26 stadium in Bamako against Zambia. The Eagles have indeed won with the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by striker El-Bilal Tourรฉ in the 6th minute of play.

The Eagles then kept this result against Chipolopolos whom they will meet again on Tuesday at the same place for the second round of this friendly duel. The opportunity may be for the coach of Mali, Eric Chelle, appointed after the failure in the play-offs of the 2022 World Cup last March, to offer himself his fourth consecutive victory after Congo (4-0) and Sudan du Sud (3-1) in June in the CAN 2023 qualifiers.
