The trade union arm of Vox shares the ire of Spanish agricultural organizations against the decision of the European Commission to authorize the entry of poultry meat from Morocco into the market of the EU-27. The Solidarity trade union condemned the “treason of the European Union towards Spain” which only benefits to favor “unfair competition from countries like Morocco and endangers the health of consumers”.
The Secretary General of Solidarity, Rodrigo Alonso, considered that “poultry meat from Morocco poses two problems: the first is that it will further drive down market prices and the second is that said meat does not meet the basic sanitary conditions”, reports an Iberian media.
As a reminder, the sections of Vox in Andalusia, Valencia, and Ceuta led a campaign against agricultural products from Morocco. They presented bills making the granting of public contracts in the catering sector conditional on the exclusive use of “products of Spanish or European Union origin”.
Last week, the Coordination of Farmers’ Organizations ( COAG) and the Union of Small Farmers and Breeders (UPA) expressed their rejection of the European Commission’s decision to give the green light to the entry of poultry meat from Morocco, on the grounds that these imports “do not comply with European Union breeding regulations and standards in terms of biosecurity, quality and animal welfare”.
