American Ambassador to Algeria Thomas Eckert in a workshop titled โTowards an economy based on green hydrogen; strategies, regulatory frameworks and projects currently being implemented
According to the American Ambassador to the United States, Thomas Eckert, โEurope wants to establish a dynamic green hydrogen market, but it will not be possible to fully satisfy demand through local production. Algeria, with its great potential, its proximity to the European Union, and its ambitions in this area, can play an important role.โ
โThe 2nd workshop on green hydrogen organized on Monday, as part of the EU-Algeria strategic partnership in the field of energy, was an excellent opportunity to exchange between experts and to understand the European and Algerian strategies in this sector. โ, he wrote in a tweet.
This workshop was organized Monday at the Abdeltif Rahal International Conference Center in Algiers by the Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Energy Delegation of the European Commission under the title โTowards an Economy Based on Hydrogen Green; Strategies, Regulatory Frameworks and Projects currently being implemented.โ
This workshop comes as Algeria has taken important steps in the realization of its hydrogen development strategy, particularly regarding regulatory and legislative aspects. Pilot projects are also being implemented in this area.
As a reminder, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the strategic partnership between Algeria and the EU in the field of energy, was signed in Algiers in 2013, to develop and strengthen energy relations while respecting the balance of interests between the two parts.
