The bodies of Ylyass (22 years old) and Mustafa (33 years old), missing since the explosion that occurred on Monday in the south of Rotterdam, were finally found on Thursday and Friday. Of Moroccan origin, Ylyass will be buried in Morocco.
Large machines were deployed in the area of the explosion, which destroyed several homes, to carry out demolition work, causing concern and misunderstanding among the victims’ families.
According to the authorities, this search option was chosen due to the unstable and dangerous nature of the area. Jalal, Ylyass’s uncle, who opposed these demolitions, fearing that his nephew’s body would suffer significant damage, was arrested and then released.
Ylyass’ body was finally found on Thursday. After identification, he was returned to his parents who live in Alicante, Spain. The young man will be buried in Morocco. On Friday, rescuers also found the body of Mustafa, a father of two children, whose origin is unknown.
As for Kamran Khan, 43, a third victim of the explosion, his body was found Wednesday by members of his family.
