The French group Thales, one of the world leaders in high technology, defense, and aerospace, has chosen Morocco to set up its sixth cybersecurity operational center (SOC).
In a press release published on Tuesday, April 5, he indicates that this infrastructure, its first of its kind in Africa, makes it possible to provide Moroccan and African administrations and companies with effective means of supervision in terms of cybersecurity. “The SOCs bring together 24/7 threat detection and analysis capabilities and offer responses in accordance with the country’s cybersecurity infrastructure and policies,” he said.
According to the multinational, which already had five SOCs in France, Canada, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, this center will also target other countries on the continent to enable them to be safe from cyberattacks. “The digital transformation of African societies, illustrated by the generalization of mobile payment on the continent, and the increase in teleworking, a consequence of the health crisis, have considerably increased Africa’s vulnerability to cyberattacks. If companies, administrations, and individuals are increasingly connected, this dynamic must still be accompanied by an increase in the level of protection against the multiplication and sophistication of attacks,” explains Thales.
