Since the beginning of the year, they have collected more than sixty gold, silver and bronze medals, testifying to the excellence of their know-how and the richness of their olive heritage. The most recent competition took place in Tunisia from July 3 to 5, during the Carthage International Olive Oil Competitions. The Algerian participants particularly shone there by winning 13 medals, including eight gold. This impressive list of achievements illustrates the quality and growing reputation of Algerian olive oils on the international scene.

According to statistics from the National Committee for the Olive Sector (CNFO), the most successful brands nationwide are, respectively, Arba Olive, Dahbia, Baghlia and Ithri Olive. These quality labels, as well as many others, are a testament to the hard work and expertise of producers. “On behalf of the National Committee for the Olive Sector, we congratulate all the producers who have contributed to promoting Algeria’s image on the international scene. And also their active participation in the development of the sector and the quality of Algerian olive oil,” said Arezki Toudert, President of the CNFO.

Noting the growing interest in international events dedicated to olive oil, Mr. Toudert hopes for a more massive participation of Algerian producers. “We strongly encourage our producers to take part in the various international competitions and exhibitions in order to further promote the excellence of Algerian olive oil and to place our country among the world’s major producers and exporters in the future,” he says with conviction.

However, to achieve these legitimate ambitions, the president of the CNFO stresses that state support is essential. “We urge the public authorities, in particular the Ministries of Agriculture and Commerce, to further support our olive oil producers in order to boost the entire Algerian olive sector. This involves, for example, granting larger R’FIG campaign credits, creating regional markets dedicated to olive oil, but also reactivating the National Olive Oil Office, which would play a leading role in structuring and promoting the olive sector,” he argued.

Furthermore, to sustainably modernize the olive sector, the CNFO has also made requests to those responsible for the vocational training sector. “We have requested the integration of the olive sector into vocational training curricula, with the development of special programs. We are still waiting for a favorable response to this request because once implemented, it would provide the sector with essential technical skills,” explains Mr. Toudert.ย
