BTE and the Startup Kaoun Introduce the ‘’Banking as a Service’’ Model in Tunisia

The Banque de Tunisie et des Emirates (BTE) and the Tunisian startup Kaoun have just announced the signing of a historic partnership, dated August 15, 2023, which marks the beginning of a new banking era for Tunisia.

With the approval of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), this revolutionary alliance will ensure the deployment of the first Banking as a Service (BaaS) model within the Tunisian financial and banking system.

Thanks to this collaboration, BTE will implement its banking services via third-party distributors, specifically through Kaoun’s “Flouci” web and mobile application, as well as its own digital experiences that will take advantage of this new infrastructure. This innovative initiative is the result of Kaoun’s success in the regulatory sandbox of the Central Bank of Tunisia, following a joint experimentation phase with BTE.
