BioNTech, a German biotechnology company specializing in the development and manufacture of immunotherapies active in the treatment of serious diseases, is counting on Africa to boost its production. In this sense, it plans to open a factory in one of the following five countries: Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, Tunisia, or Senegal.
The German biotech – which is behind the vaccine developed with P๏ฌzer – has unveiled part of its expansion plan aimed at creating a large factory for the production of innovative drugs in Africa. According to its managing director, Ugur Sahin, the German ๏ฌrm plans to build a factory in Africa and develop a manufacturing network with local partners to transfer its technology based on messenger RNA – a genetic molecule – to a suffering continent, lack of access to vaccines and other life-saving treatments, reports The Wall Street Journal.
In his sights, five African countries have a vaccine industry. These are Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, Tunisia, and Senegal. The German ๏ฌrm intends to negotiate the possibilities of opening the plant in one of these countries.
