The electronic registration card will also be ready before the end of 2016 and will be launched during the first quarter of 2017, the minister said.

In this regard, he stressed the need for combining efforts to reduce road accidents, which โ€œannually leave thousands of casualties.โ€

“We are determined to make of 2017 a year of peace and road safety, through the contribution of all players notably the civil society as it is an issue that concerns everyone,โ€ the minister added.

Bedoui also said that before the end of 2016, the parliament will pass the bill on road safety in parallel to the setting up of the Road Safety Delegation.

For Bedoui, the government has “decided to address” the issue of the road safety and prevention, underlining that “our strategy over the coming years will be centered on the Algerian citizen.”

As such, he announced twinning projects with developed countries to find solutions to the lack of safety on the roads.
