Belmadi: “Morocco Will Welcome Us as It Should”

After his first game tonight against Djibouti, the Algerian team will take the leadership of the Kingdom of Morocco, to go face Burkina Faso, under the 2nd day of qualifying Qatar World 2022.

The event will be played in the middle ‘a diplomatic tension between the Algerian and Moroccan governments, but the coach Djamel Belmadi wants to be positive. “Morocco will welcome us as it should,” he hopes.

The Algerian football team is expected in the next few days in Morocco, to face Burkina Faso, under the 2 nd day of qualifying Qatar World 2022, the largest stadium in Marrakech. Algeria is playing in Morocco because the Ouagadougou August 4 stadium does not meet the standards set by FIFA and CAF. But, this trip takes place in a particular context of diplomatic tensions between Rabat and Algiers.

“This political problem (the breakdown of relations, editor’s note) will it influence the match? Normally no, there are people who will have to be diligent and control all of this. We go there with a lot of hope, a lot of ambition without taking the lead. In any case, it is useless, and without excessive paranoia,” said the Algerian coach, Djamel Belmadi. “We are going to play a match in the neighboring country, Insh’Allah he will welcome us as it should be,” he said.

“We want to be in continuity and in performance. This series of invincibility represents work, involvement, and wanting to be the best, we work for that,” he added. Note that the unbeaten streak of the Fennecs, 27 games without defeat, also remains in a corner of the head of Djamel Belmadi.
