Lebanon has been experiencing a serious economic and financial crisis since the summer of 2019, exacerbated by a political impasse that has left the country without a government for almost eight months, following the resignation of Prime Minister Hassane Diab in the wake of the deadly explosion of August 4 at the port of Beirut. The head of the Lebanese army, General Joseph Aoun, recently sounded the alarm by calling on those responsible for the difficult conditions faced by the army, which must undergo budget cuts and the impact of the crisis economic and financial on the salaries of the military.
