Arab Nations Cup: Qatar, Morocco, Algeria and Egypt qualified in quarterfinals

Four countries have already qualified for the quarter-finals of the Arab Nations Cup, even though the second day of group matches is not yet over. Algeria, Morocco, Egypt and the host country, Qatar, already have an appointment with the knockout stages.

For the last match of Group D of the second day, Egypt beat Sudan with a score of 5-0 and thus offered their place in the quarterfinals. The Pharaohs have not conceded a single goal in this competition.

The second day of the cup ended with a draw (1 – 1) between Palestine and Saudi Arabia .

The Algeria dominates Lebanon with a score of 2 to 0 in the first game of the second day of Group D. That’s Brahimi opened the scoring in the 69th minute. Meziani scores the second goal in additional time (90 + 3 ‘). The teams both received a red card at the end of the match and therefore finished ten. With this victory, Algeria  is qualified in the quarterfinals.

In Group C of this FIFA Arab Cup, Morocco  wins its second match with a score of 4-0 against Jordan .

However, the second day of this cup had started badly for the African representatives, especially in group B.

While it had achieved a masterful score against Mauritania (5-1) during the first day, Tunisia fell against the Syrian losing 0-2 on Friday 3rd December in Doha, Al Bayt stadium. Kawo scored in the 4th minute, followed by Anez in the 47th.

The Tunisians even finished their match at 10, after the expulsion of their midfielder, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, at the end of the first half. The Carthage Eagles will therefore play their qualification on the last day, meeting the United Arab Emirates who won their first two games.

Indeed, it was at the Ras Abu Aboud stadium in Doha that the United Arab Emirates narrowly won against Mauritania , with a score of 1 to 0, a little earlier in the evening of Friday, thanks to a Al Hammadi’s goal in the 93rd minute. Everything remains to be done for these teams.

Qatar qualified for the quarter-finals

In the afternoon the two Group A matches also took place. The host country of the competition, Qatar therefore qualified for the quarter-finals by winning their second victory against Oman , again in the last minutes of the match.

With a score of 2 to 1 (penalty from Afif Akram in the 32nd minute and goal by Al Hajri in the 74th minute), Qatar therefore qualifies and will be able to play its last group match with peace of mind.

The other group A match between Bahrain and Iraq ended in a 0-0 draw. On Saturday, December 4, the second day continues with matches in groups C and D.

The third day of the group matches will take place on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 December.
