Moroccan international Amine El Ouazzani has again declined the Algerian Football Federation’s offer to join the Fennecs.
Amine El Ouazzani was not called up by Walid Regragui for the two matches against the Central African Republic, scheduled for October 12 and 15 as part of the third and fourth days of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco 2025. Walid Sadi, president of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), having noted the absence of the 23-year-old player’s name on Regragui’s list, jumped at the opportunity to return to the charge and try to convince El Ouazzani to join the Algerian national team.
But the Sporting Braga striker rejected the offer, insisting that he would rather remain a Moroccan international. Born in Grenoble to a Moroccan father and an Algerian mother, El Ouazzani chose to play for Morocco, despite the insistence of the Algerian federation. The Atlas Lion won the U23 Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco. He participated in the Paris Olympics with the Moroccan team that finished third in the tournament, winning the bronze medal, the first in its history.
