American Lottery DV Lottery: Algeria in the top 3 of the winning countries

The results of the Diversity Immigrant Visa program for the year 2021 were released Friday, August 21 by the Office of Consular Affairs of the United States Department of State.

Indeed, according to the Miami Herald, the winners of the 2021 US Lottery were drawn from 6,741,128 applicants from around the world, who applied during the 35-day registration period last year. The program, making up to 55,000 Green Cards available annually, was created to promote legal stay for nationals of countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.

In view of the latest figures, the country with the highest rate of successful applicants is Egypt, with 6,002 successful applicants, closely followed by Algeria, Iran, Russia, and Sudan, which are found at the bottom. 2nd place, with 6,001 candidates having benefited from the program in question in each country. Ukraine comes third with 5,604 nationals admitted to the program. Followed by Uzbekistan, 5,319 applications, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with 4,503 successful Diversity Immigrant Visa applicants.

However, Turkey is the country that has benefited the least from the program, positioning itself in 12th place, with only 2,874 applications, followed by Ghana, which recorded 3,284 successful applications, and Cameroon, with 3,686 admissions to the program. Nepal is in 9th place with 3,801 validated registrations, while Ethiopia takes 8th place thanks to 3,957 applicants admitted to the program. Morocco, with 4,458 winning candidates, placed 6th in the standings, narrowly ahead of Albania in 7th place, with 3,962 Albanian nationals admitted to the 2021 American DV-Lottery.

However, the number of applicants for 2021 was slightly lower than in the previous year, due to the new program rule that was introduced the year before in order to limit fraudulent registrations. Thus, and for the first time since the creation of the American DV Lottery, a valid and unexpired passport was required in order to allow foreigners to be able to submit the registration form electronically.

Note that the Foreign Policy Department also said that the 2022 diversity visa program registration period “will be made public in the coming months.”
