This information comes from a press review by the newspapers Assabah and Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. During his appearance on the program โBring in the Guestโ on Radio 2M on November 13, the ambassador confirmed the lifting of visa restrictions for Moroccans, deploring the controversy generated by these limitations.
Questioned by journalist Fathia Elaouni on the controversy surrounding visa restrictions for Moroccans, Christophe Lecourtier described the situation as a “mess”, stressing that this measure had harmed the image and influence of France in Morocco. Although he shares the opinion of President Emmanuel Macron, the ambassador recognizes that many Moroccans have felt humiliated due to these restrictions. He stresses, however, that the bilateral relationship cannot be reduced to statistics, and that the process of healing from these humiliations will take time.
Confirming the announcement by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, in December 2022 regarding the lifting of visa restrictions for Moroccans, Christophe Lecourtier declared on Radio 2M that there is now no more limitation in the issuance of visas by France. He added that anyone who meets the visa requirements will now receive their visa. Furthermore, the ambassador noted an 80% increase in the granting of visas in 202 compared to the previous year, with a rate of refusal of one request in eight.
