Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has dismissed Communication Minister Mohamed Bouslimani from his post. This, after the dissemination of false information by a local channel.
The Algerian press has disseminated information according to which the Emirati ambassador to Algeria has been declared persona non grata. Decision taken, still according to the newspapers, following the arrest of four Emirati spies. Information that quickly ignited the Web. After the broadcast of this news, the spokesperson for the Algerian Ministry of Affairs made an exit.
Information โdevoid of any foundationโ
Algerian diplomacy denied “en bloc” this information “devoid of any foundation relayed on social networks and by certain media”. In his communication, Minister Ahmed Attaf insists that this information is “false and unfounded”. Better still, he says, his department is the “sole source of information” on matters of diplomacy.
Who then is this source that gave the information on the expulsion of the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Algiers, because of a case of espionage? No details. We know, however, that following the dissemination of this news, the Algerian head of state, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, took a strong decision overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday.
“Privileged” relations with the United Arab Emirates
Indeed, the Algerian Minister of Communication, Mohamed Bouslimani, was dismissed from his post by the Head of State. We also learn from a press release from the Presidency of the Republic that the interim of this ministry has been entrusted to its Secretary General. Mohamed Bouslimani has been in office since November 2021, replacing Ammar Belhimer.
In the wake of the dissemination of this fake news, Algerian diplomacy insisted on the “privileged” relations with the United Arab Emirates. Ahmed Attaf’s department spoke of a joint decision to raise these relations to the highest level, “in accordance with the will of the leaders of the two countries, the Algerian Presidents Abdelmadjid Tebboune and the Emirati Presidents Mohamed Ben Zayed Al-Nahyane”.
