Trade and Export Promotion Minister Kamal Rezik on Sunday stressed in Algiers the need to double Algerian exports of household appliances and electronic equipment. Thus, it will strive to provide all administrative facilities to create or attract certification bodies in Algeria.
This declaration was made during his supervision of the launch of the national open doors in Algeria on the export of household appliances and electronic equipment organized by the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (from January 29 to 31) on the slogan โ Quality, Guarantee, Perspectives and Challengesโ.
The Minister considered that this event, which is organized at the headquarters of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, โwill be an opportunity to give additional impetus to all industrialists and professionals linked to the production, development and export of household appliances and electronic equipment. And this, so that this division can increase its exports. Given the capabilities our country has, an efficient workforce and national production that meets international standards, as well as a competitive price,โ according to the minister.
The Minister of Trade believes that Algeria has the same capacities and qualifications as those of certain exporting countries which enjoy significant shares in world markets. Emphasizing the need to work hard to harness these abilities. In order to modernize Algerian domestic electrical and electronic products at the international level.
$45 million in household and electronics exports
During his speech, Mr. Raziq presented a number of figures related to household appliances and electronic equipment. Thus, he revealed that these products were exported to 36 countries for a value of 45 million dollars in 2021. This corresponds to an increase of 125% compared to 2020.
Regarding export destinations, France ranks first with more than 20 million dollars. Then follows Tunisia in second position with 11 million dollars. And then comes Libya in third place, with more than 6 million dollars. This is what emerges from the figures provided by the minister.
Moreover, he believes that these figures do not reflect the real capacities that Algeria has in this area. Highlighting the importance of filling gaps and barriers and making better use of the strengths of this division. And this, given the strong global demand for it, especially the African market.
Finally, the Minister stresses that there is a trend towards an increase in the consumption of the national product among Algerian families and their โreluctance in many cases to buy the imported productโ. Considering this attitude as proof of the quality of the local product.
