Algeria: Transfer of Ownership of the Factories of Haddad, Mazouz and the Kouninef Brothers Detained in Prison

Indeed, the companies of Ali Haddad, Mazouz and the Kouninef brothers, convicted of corruption in Algeria, are experiencing a new turning point. After these factories closed their doors, the Algerian authorities took the decision to carry out a transfer of ownership. The State, therefore, recovered them and then relaunched their activities.

According to the Arabic-language daily El Khabar, the Council of State Participations chose to change its status to become a subsidiary. More specifically, these belong to various public bodies that operate in multiple fields of activity. This concerns, on the one hand, the edible oil production plant located in the capital Algiers.

This company, which belonged to the Kouninef brothers, is now owned by the Agrodiv group. The same goes for the edible oil factory located in the wilaya of Jijel, which also belongs to the Kouninef brothers. This is now owned by the aforementioned group active in the agro-industrial sector, Agrodiv.

The other factories affected by the State procedure

Moreover, the same source indicates that the factories of the businessman Mazouz have become state property. In particular, the unit specializing in sugar refining at Khemis El Khechna. This is now under the supervision of the Agrodiv group.

In addition, the Board decided to transfer ownership of the N’gaous mineral water production plant to the public group Madar. This also belonged to the businessman Mazouz, who was put behind bars by the court of Algiers. In addition, the decision also affects the steel tube factory of the Haddad group. Either tube are intended for hydraulic, oil, and gas transfer.

From now on, this Ali Haddad factory located in the wilaya of Oran will be managed by the public group IMETAL. To conclude, it should be noted that this measure would make it possible to avoid the closure of the productive establishments of detained businessmen. And thus aims to preserve jobs and recover looted funds.
