Algeria: Sonatrach Sends Aid to Fire Victims 

The national hydrocarbon company, Sonatrach, has sent donations to the victims of the fires in the east of the country. TMT tells you more about this in the rest of this issue of August 20, 2022. 

Solidarity operations are continuing, following the forest fires recorded in the northeastern part of the country. With 38 dead and 183 injured, a very heavy human toll that particularly bereaved two wilayas. We are talking about El Tarf and Souk Ahras in this case. Indeed, after Algรฉrie Poste, the national hydrocarbon company, Sonatrach, mobilized, in turn, to come to the aid of the victims of the fires. 

In detail, Sonatrach announced the dispatch of two solidarity caravans to the wilayas affected by the fires. The two convoys started from the social services departments of the company in the wilayas of Skikda and Biskra. This was indicated by the national company in a press release taken up by the Arabic-language daily El Bilad

In addition, Sonatrach said the trucks were loaded with foodstuffs, medicines and medical supplies. Emphasizing that the two convoys were intended for the victims of the fires which affected the regions of the North-East of the country. These include the wilayas of El Tarf and Souk Ahras. 

Forest fires: Algerians in solidarity 

In its statement, the National Hydrocarbons Campaign also indicated that it will continue this solidarity operation over the next few days. In addition, the forest fires that affected several wilayas of the country also generated a great outpouring of solidarity from civil society. 

Indeed, the Algerians have relayed multiple calls for donations to help the victims. Especially since the needs of this population are very important. Families have seen their homes and belongings go up in smoke. 

A few hours later, dozens of trucks loaded with humanitarian aid arrived in El Tarf. This from several wilayas. Images that recall the momentum of solidarity with the victims of the fires in the summer of 2021.
