This is news that will undoubtedly please the Algerian diaspora abroad. The Algerian government has published new measures to simplify administrative procedures and facilitate the summer return of Algerian expatriates to the country.
It was in the pipeline and it is now official, the Algerian authorities have launched a series of reforms to make life easier for the Algerian diaspora abroad. Dictated by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, these measures aim to meet the needs of the national community beyond the borders.
Strengthening passport delivery services
Diplomatic and consular representations will see an increase in their staff, especially in services dedicated to the issuance of passports. โ Major importance is given at the level of our diplomatic and consular representations to the services responsible for issuing passports,โ underlined the Algerian Embassy in a message on its official website.
Extension of opening hours and services by appointment
Among the new developments, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to extend the working hours and days of consular services, which will now operate from Monday to Saturday. An appointment-making system has also been put in place to ensure better management of the flow of visitors and reduce waits.
Mobile deployments and easy renewals
Other measures, the Algerian government plans to deploy biometric teams in areas with a high concentration of the Algerian diaspora, far from embassies and consulates, to ensure better accessibility of services.
The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also plans to simplify the procedures for renewing travel documents without requiring travel to the headquarters of Algerian diplomatic missions.
Relief for the summer season
To facilitate travel during the summer season, a busy period, special measures have been established for children of the national community abroad. They will be able to enter the national territory by simply presenting a biometric identity document and a passport, thus facilitating their mobility.
Visa-free entry for foreign passport holders
Another exceptional measure specified by the Algerian head of state, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, allows Algerians residing abroad and holding foreign passports to travel to and from Algeria without a visa until October 31, 2024. They will only need to present a valid foreign passport and a national identity card or an Algerian biometric passport, even expired.
