Algeria – Morocco Crisis: Soufiane Djilali Comes Out of His Long Silence

Soufiane Djilali still does not seem to digest his defeat in the legislative elections. In recent months, party chairman Jil Jadid has completely disappeared from the media scene; but the case of the three Algerians murdered by the Moroccan army in Western Sahara made him react.

After a silence that lasted several months; Soufiane Djilali finally spoke on the latest developments in the crisis between Algeria and Morocco. A diplomatic escalation marked today by a resurgence of tension between Rabat and Algiers, after the outbreak of the case of the three Algerians loosely murdered in Western Sahara.

A “neutral” reaction

Indeed, it was through a press release from his party that Soufiane Djilali reacted to this affair. In a statement released on November 3, the “leader” of Jil Jadid condemned “the murder of three of our compatriots who were conveying goods to Mauritania”.

โ€œThis attack, which amounts to an act of war, is extremely serious; showing reckless aggression on the part of a neighbor driven by his expansionist will,” the statement read.

โ€œInstead of investing in the development of his country and for Maghreb cooperation, the Makhzen is destabilizing the entire region by introducing all the geopolitical factors of a conflict which risks degenerating to the detriment of the peoples of the region The Maghreb,โ€ he added.
