A state-of-the-art railway sleeper manufacturing plant has just opened its doors in Hassi-Khebi, Tindouf! This colossal project, in partnership with the Chinese giant CRCC (China Railway Construction Corporation), aims to exploit the mineral riches of southern Algeria.
Furthermore, with an area of 91,000 m² and a daily production capacity of 3,000 sleepers, this factory is set to transform the railway industry in Algeria, both continentally and globally.
The launch took place on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The inauguration ceremony of the new plant was attended by the Wali of Tindouf, Mustapha Dahou, the project manager’s representative, Benrabia Dahou, and the CRCC director, Xu Huaxiang.
CRCC Launches a Railway Factory in Algeria, Capable of Producing 3,000 Units a Day
Stakeholders expressed themselves during the ceremony. The CRCC director mentioned his honor in contributing to the economic development of southern Algeria.
He stated, “CRCC Algeria is honored to contribute to the construction of this western Algerian mining line, thus participating in the economic and social development of the region.” He added, “We are committed to carrying out this project with diligence, respecting deadlines, and ensuring optimal quality, to make this project a model of win-win cooperation between China and Algeria.”
CRCC – Cosider TP: Strategic Cooperation for the Bechar-Tindouf-Gara Djebilet Railway Line
It’s worth noting that this factory is the largest of its kind in Algeria, as it will produce 2.60m sleepers at 3,000 units per day. When it reaches its full production capacity, the factory, which currently employs 152 workers, will have over 400 employees, aligning with the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, regarding job creation in southern regions.
Moreover, with its large production capacity, this railway factory will help reduce the supply time for the Bechar-Tindouf-Gara Djebilet railway line project, in collaboration with the national company Cosider TP.
