Durum wheat occupies the largest portion of these areas, being cultivated over 1,395 hectares, while 31 hectares are dedicated to soft wheat.

In this context, the head of statistics at the Agriculture Directorate has confirmed to APS that local authorities are seeking to expand the agricultural area in the upcoming season.

He emphasized that the plan includes granting agricultural land through concessions to investors, along with preparing new areas covering 20,500 hectares. Additionally, eight new cereal collection centers will be established, each with a capacity of up to 300,000 quintals.

As part of improving agricultural infrastructure, the agricultural services will work on connecting over 258 agricultural investments to agricultural electricity, extending the electrical network over a distance of 416.64 kilometers.

It should be noted that Ghardaïa province is one of Algeria’s promising agricultural regions, where the agricultural sector is experiencing significant development thanks to the development programs supported by the province.
