A Podium Swept by Algiers’ Elite Math Students

The Algerian flag flew high in Tunis thanks to exceptional individual performances, largely driven by students from the prestigious “Mohand Mokhbi” Mathematics High School in Algiers:

  • Bouabdallah Rostom Mohamed Kamel: Crowned African Champion (1st Place), earning a well-deserved Gold Medal.
  • Khalifi Mohamed Alaeddine: Secured 2nd Place (tie) on the continental level, also taking home a Gold Medal.
  • Nesrine Maâzouz: Achieved a remarkable 4th Place in Africa, winning a Silver Medal.

The team’s success was further bolstered by Bouricha Sofiane from the Oudni Omar High School (Draâ El Mizan, Tizi Ouzou), who secured a Silver Medal. This brings Algeria’s total tally to 2 Gold and 2 Silver medals.

A Win for the Algerian Education System

The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, extended his warmest congratulations to the laureates. He described the victory as a “testament to the vitality and excellence of the Algerian educational system.”

Experts note that these results are not a coincidence. They reflect a strategic shift within Algerian schools to prioritize the early detection of talent and the integration of cutting-edge technological disciplines. The consistent pedagogical support provided to these elite students is now positioning Algeria as an emerging leader in Artificial Intelligence across the African continent.

Strategic Impact on the Future

This victory at the AOAI 2026 is more than just a trophy; it is proof of an effective national strategy to promote new technologies. By fostering a high-level technical environment, Algeria is creating a roadmap for future generations to excel in AI-driven industries.

Observers agree that this success bolsters Algeria’s academic prestige and builds a solid foundation for the country to become a key player on the global technological stage.
