Algeria Condemns “Dangerous Drift” by Morocco

New dangerous escalation of tensions between Algeria and Morocco. At daggers drawn for years against the backdrop of the conflict in Western Sahara and regional supremacy, the two countries are on the verge of a complete breakdown of their diplomatic relations.

Wanting at all costs to finalize its colonization of Western Sahara, Morocco will now stop at nothing. After normalizing its relations with Israel despite the opposition of a good part of its population, and resorting to blackmail to immigrants with Spain and the European Union in general, Rabat strikes a new evil card with Algeria, one of the strongest supporters of the Saharawi people who are fighting for their independence.

This Friday, the Algerian ministry reacted vigorously to a new Moroccan attack that directly targets the unity of Algeria. A  serious and dangerous precedent on the part of the neighbor to the West who no longer hides his bellicose intentions.

Through the voice of the department of Ramtane Lamamra, Algeria condemned a “particularly dangerous drift”  of Morocco which publicly and explicitly displayed an alleged ” right to self-determination of the Kabyle people”.

“The Moroccan diplomatic representation in New York distributed to all the member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement an official note, the content of which formally consecrates the engagement of the  Kingdom of Morocco in a campaign hostile to Algeria, through support public and explicit to an alleged right to self-determination of the Kabyle people + which, according to the said note, would undergo the longest foreign occupation”, denounced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Algerian community abroad.

For the department of Ramtane Lamamra, this “double assertion is worth recognition of guilt with regard to the multifaceted Moroccan support currently granted to a known terrorist group, as was the case for the support for the terrorist groups which bloodied Algeria during the black decade.”

Without naming it, the Foreign Ministry speaks of the Movement for the Self-Determination of Kabylia ( MAK ), which has been declared a “terrorist organization” in Algeria.

Algeria calls this “Moroccan diplomatic communication”  of  “adventurism” of  “irresponsible” and “manipulative.” “It is the result of a short-sighted, simplistic and futile attempt to cultivate an outrageous amalgamation between a question of decolonization duly recognized as such by the international community and what is only a plot directed against the unity of the Algerian nation”, adds the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This question of decolonization naturally concerns Western Sahara occupied by Moroccan troops.

“This same communication clashes head-on with the principles and agreements that structure and inspire Algerian-Moroccan relations. It constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and of the Constitutive Act of the African Union”, asserts the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sovereign and indivisible, Algeria which denounces a diplomatic act “dubious committed by an ambassador” affirms to be in “right to await a clarification of the final position of the Kingdom of Morocco on this incident of extreme gravity.”
