SONATRACH announced on Tuesday the arrival of Algerian fuel at the port of Tripoli, Lebanon, aboard its tanker โIN ECKERโ, which left the oil port of Skikda on August 22, 2024.
This initiative comes from the decision of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to go to the aid of Lebanon by providing it with the energy necessary to overcome its current crisis.
The cargo, estimated at 30 thousand tons of Fuel, is intended to ensure the supply of Lebanese power plants and contribute to the restoration of electricity in the country.
This fuel produced at the Skikda Refinery is characterized by its high energy quality and low sulfur content, which are necessary conditions for the production of electricity.
โThis initiative illustrates Algeriaโs unwavering commitment to supporting the brotherly Lebanese people in the difficult times they are going through. This effort also reflects the humanitarian and solidarity spirit that prevails in relations between Algeria and Lebanon, thus contributing to the strengthening of ties of cooperation and fraternity between the two countriesโ; we read in a press release from SONATRACH.
