Algeria and Russia Sign Nine Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding

On Thursday, January 30, Algeria and Russia signed nine agreements and memorandums of understanding in Algiers, aimed at strengthening their partnership in various fields, including education and scientific research.

The signing ceremony took place at the conclusion of the 12th session of the Algerian-Russian Joint Commission for Economic, Commercial, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation. This event was co-chaired by Youssef Cherfa, the Algerian Minister of Agriculture, and Dmitry Patrushev, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.

The first agreement was ratified by Kamel Badari, the Algerian Minister of Higher Education, and Konstantin Mogilevsky, the Russian Deputy Minister of Higher Education. This agreement focuses on the mutual recognition of degrees, certificates, and qualifications between Algeria and Russia. Both ministers also signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of higher education and science.

Jamal Halas, Director General of the Algerian Institute of Standardization, and Anton Shaliyev, Director of the Russian Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology, signed a protocol agreement to enhance standardization and conformity assessment between their institutions.

Cooperation agreements were also established between the Algerian University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene in Algiers and the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University, as well as between Abdelhamid Ben Badis University in Mostaganem and the same Russian university. These agreements involve student exchanges, research, and integration into the Russian-African university network.

Additional agreements were signed between the National School of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the University of Algiers 2, the University of Oran 2, and Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University.

Moreover, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Higher Teachers’ School in Bou Saada, the University of Algiers-Setif, and the Russian University in Naberezhnye Chelny.

At the end of the ceremony, the Algerian Minister of Agriculture emphasized that the regular holding of the Commission, alternating between Algiers and Moscow, aims to reinforce and diversify bilateral cooperation, thus contributing to the development of a multifaceted strategic partnership.

Recent
