Air Arabia Maroc Launches Direct Flight Between Rabat and Oujda

Air Arabia Maroc, a leading low-cost airline, inaugurated its new direct flight route between Rabat and Oujda on Thursday, January 9. Supported by the Oriental Region, this new service marks a significant step towards enhancing internal connectivity within Morocco.

The festive atmosphere at Oujda Angad Airport welcomed the flight from Rabat-Salรฉ International Airport. The event was celebrated with a performance by a “Reggada” dance group, attended by Khatib El Hebil, the Wali of the Oriental Region, Mohamed Bouarourou, President of the Oriental Regional Council, and Laila Mechbal, General Manager of Air Arabia Maroc.

The aircraft, carrying over 100 passengers, was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute, symbolizing the importance of this new route in strengthening economic and social ties between the two regions.

This new connection facilitates travel for both business and leisure travelers, enhancing economic and cultural links between Rabat, the administrative capital and a tourist destination, and Oujda, known for its surrounding natural resources and urban heritage.

On this occasion, Laila Mechbal expressed her enthusiasm for the new route, stating to Yabiladi that “the new route will offer three weekly flights operated by Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 174 seats. We hope this will contribute to the development of tourism in the Oriental Region and facilitate travel between the two cities in under 45 minutes.”

Mohamed Bouarourou emphasized that “these flights are part of a partnership agreement signed between the Oriental Regional Council and Air Arabia.” He added that “the Council has allocated over 24 million dirhams to support this agreement, which includes three flights between Oujda and Rabat, in addition to two flights between Nador Al Aroui Airport and Rabat. We are confident that this initiative will create a new dynamic in the Oriental Region with a positive impact across various sectors, particularly in economics and tourism.”

The new flight schedules are set for Tuesdays (from Oujda to Rabat at 07:00, arriving at 08:05, and from Rabat to Oujda at 08:45, arriving at 09:50), Thursdays (from Oujda to Rabat at 16:05, arriving at 17:10, and from Rabat to Oujda at 14:15, arriving at 15:20), and Sundays (from Oujda to Rabat at 14:25, arriving at 15:30, and from Rabat to Oujda at 12:40, arriving at 13:50).

To celebrate the launch, tickets start from 350 dirhams, available on the airline’s website, mobile app, or through authorized agents.
