Air Algérie is accelerating the international recovery. The Algerian national airline, hard hit by the health crisis, is in the process of diversifying its offer and strengthening its presence, particularly on the African market.
Air Algérie announced, in a press release published this Sunday, August 14, the resumption of flights to three African capitals. The national airline also announced that three other new lines will see the light of day next September.
Air Algérie: resumption of flights to Africa
In its press release, Air Algérie affirms that “in accordance with the decisions of the authorities relating to the reinforcement of the program of international flights, Air Algérie is pleased to announce the resumption of its flights to Africa”.
Air Algérie announces that it is resuming flights to the Senegalese capital Dakar, the Nigerien capital Niamey, as well as the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott. The national airline also specified that the resumption of flights planned to Abidjan, Bamako and Ouagadougou will wait until September.
The decision to reconnect with the African sky was taken following the latest update from the Ministry of Transport which announced, on August 10, the reopening of new lines between Algeria and several other countries.

According to the August 10 press release, published by the Ministry of Transport, the Head of State also ordered the opening of air routes with South Africa, Ethiopia and Congo. This is a significant expansion, which response to a new strategy of the national airline which no longer hides its desire to conquer the African market.
Although flights to some African capitals are not very profitable, this approach will nevertheless make Algiers airport a transit center for African airline planes bound for Europe.
This approach will also strengthen the presence of Air Algérie in Africa and will open the door to national companies to invest in the continent by facilitating the procedure for exporting their products.
