Air Algérie Competitor Strengthens Its Services Between France and Algeria

Already very dense, air links between Algeria and France are strengthening. The French low-cost company Transavia, a competitor of Air Algérie, has announced that it will serve four additional French cities from Algerian airports, at very low rates.

Transavia Airlines, a low-cost subsidiary of Air France-KLM, is continuing its expansion in the Algerian market where it opened its first office in March 2024. During the summer of 2024, it operated 20 routes between Algerian and French cities, carrying 875,000 passengers.

The offer will be further increased since the French company has decided to serve four other French airports. The new lines announced are Marseille-Algiers, Toulouse-Algiers, Nice-Algiers and Toulouse-Oran.

Transavia already served the French airports of Paris-Orly, Nantes, Lyon, Montpellier, and Strasbourg from Algeria.

The new flights will be inaugurated next October.

Algeria-France: Transavia’s new low-cost lines

According to the details provided by the company, five flights per week (Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) are planned between Marseille and Algiers from October 21, 2024. The price of a one-way ticket starts at €39.

There will be two weekly flights between Toulouse and Algiers, on Mondays and Fridays, starting at €49 one way. The first flight is scheduled for October 24, 2024.

Two weekly flights will also take place between the same French city and Oran, every Wednesday and Saturday, at the same price (from €49 one way). The first flight is scheduled for October 23.

Algeria, a “key market” for Transavia

The same price will be applied to the two weekly Nice – Algiers flights which will take place on Thursday and Sunday, from October 27, 2024.

Nicolas Henin, Deputy General Manager of Sales and Marketing at Transavia France, explained the launch of these new lines to the “very strong” demand from customers, considering that “Algeria is more than ever a key market for Transavia”.
