Acquisition of 15 Planes: Air Algérie Launches an International Consultation

The national airline has just launched an international consultation aimed at aircraft manufacturers, for the acquisition of 15 new aircraft. Decided last May during a Council of Ministers, the reinforcement of the Air Algérie fleet is now entering its implementation phase.

Air Algérie, which currently has 56 aircraft, aims through this acquisition to open new routes to Africa and Asia in particular, in addition to the objective of having larger capacity aircraft. Indeed, out of the 15 aircraft to be acquired, Air Algérie wants 2 aircraft with 400 seats each.

In all, “there are five (5) module 200 (A) aircraft, three (3) module 200 (B) aircraft, five (5) module 300 aircraft and two (2) module 400 aircraft”, specifies APS, citing the document of the international consultation. The latter is intended “exclusively for manufacturers of aircraft operated in civil commercial transport, having the certificates and approvals governing the activity”, is it still required?

Candidate builders can bid for one or more lots, and should send a request for the withdrawal of the specifications by e-mail to the address ( [email protected] ). As for the offers, they must be sent “in sealed envelopes to ”Air Algérie, Direction des Affaires juridiques & Assurances, 1 Place Maurice Audin (3rd floor), Algiers, Algeria””, no later than October 26, 2022. before 12:00 p.m. (local time).

Let us recall that during a Council of Ministers chaired by Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on May 8, “the airline company Air Algérie was authorized to acquire 15 planes for the opening of new routes, in particular to African and Asian countries, in addition to the purchase ships carrying passengers, goods and grain”.

Since then, the company seems to have studied the type of devices and identified its needs to finally decide to launch the consultation. With these 15 aircraft, Air Algérie will increase its transport capacity by 3,900 seats and will strengthen its fleet, which currently has 56 aircraft, to reach 71 aircraft.
