The establishment of a national strategy aimed at developing the automotive components industry sector in Tunisia, within the framework of the development plans for 2023/2025 and 2026/2023, was decided during a ministerial working session chaired on Monday by the head of government, Ahmed Hachani, at the government headquarters in Kasbah, in the presence of the various ministers concerned.
It was also agreed to update the database of available land ready to be exploited by investors, particularly for the realization of major automotive industry projects, in close coordination with the investment structures concerned, and to raise the margin of preference granted to all products of Tunisian origin, in public markets, in particular automobile components, to increase it from 10% to 25%, within the framework of the amendment of the decree regulating markets public (Decree No. 2014-1039 of March 13, 2014). The objective being to strengthen the State’s orientations aimed at favoring national products.
During this session, the head of government emphasized the importance of encouraging local industries, particularly in the automotive components sector, given their positive contribution to the national economy.
For her part, the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub presented a presentation on the situation of the sector in Tunisia and the means to develop it, emphasizing that this sector presents several comparative advantages particularly with regard to good skills training.
