The establishment of two strategic centers for international trade in Casablanca and Tangier will allow the Japanese company to achieve the maximum possible logistics coverage of the entire Kingdom.

However, the new joint venture is not limited to providing traditional maritime transport services. It also includes innovative digital solutions that help simplify and improve the logistics management of Moroccan companies.

A joint statement from the two companies said that September 1, 2024 represents a significant milestone in Ocean Network Expressโ€™ journey as a leading player in the maritime transportation industry, leveraging innovation and technology to deliver advanced logistics solutions.

The launch of this project is part of this strategy, which allows the partnership between Ocean Network Express, headquartered in Singapore, and Universal Shipping, a leader in the Moroccan maritime sector, to strengthen its capacity to provide services adapted to the needs of the local market.

The press release adds that the choice of Casablanca, Morocco’s economic center, and Tangier, with its strategic transshipment port, as the headquarters of this new entity, aims to ensure optimal coverage of the country’s logistical needs and to facilitate trade between Morocco and the rest of the world.

Morocco aims to be among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of maritime connectivity, with the presence of the Tangier Med port in the north of the Kingdom and the ports of Nador in the western Mediterranean (northeast of the country) and Dakhla, on the Atlantic side in the south.

This trend has enabled it to attract international investments in the field of maritime transport, to raise Morocco’s maritime connectivity index at the international level and to occupy 20th place at the international level, since it is now connected to more than 184 ports in 71 countries.
