Earlier in the afternoon of September 17, 2022, the Algerian pugilist, Roumaïssa Boualem, won the gold medal against her opponent in the final of the -50 Kg category.

After her coronation at the Mediterranean Games of Oran 2022, Roumaïssa Boualem continues with a new medal of the continental order. The coronation of Roumaïssa Boualem was the starting point of what could turn out to be a waltz of gold medals for Algeria.

Indeed, his compatriot, Imane Khelif, had the last word against his opponent on behalf of the 63 kg final. Thus, Khelif won the gold medal of the African Boxing Championships organized in Mapoto.

Imene Khelif’s fight against the Botswana pugilist ended after the second round. A 3rd individual title for Khelif at the African Championships.

The place of the leader goes to the Algerian women

Despite a difficult start to the final day for the women’s boxing selection with the defeat of the athlete, Fatiha Mansouri, who won the silver medal in passing, during the final of the -48 kg category, the Algerians have rebounded with two consecutive coronations of which Khelif and Boualem were the authors.

Of the 10 women’s finals scheduled for this day of competition, Algeria has 7 athletes who will take part in the 10 fights. A prolific ratio allowed the Algerian women’s selection to take first place in the women’s general classification of the 2022 African Boxing Championships.

In addition, out of the 8 finals disputed so far, the Algerian athletes have obtained 3 gold medals and a silver medal. Never two crowns without a third. This was the watchword of the Algerian pugilists during this day.

Thus, the athlete, Ichrak Chaib, was able to get rid of his opponent of the day during the final of the -66 Kg category. The third sesame for Algeria accentuates its supremacy in African boxing.

Note that two other Algerian athletes will animate two other finals for women. Indeed, Fatima-Zohra Hedjela and Djoher Bennan will be at the ultimate meetings of their respective categories. The finals will be held later this afternoon.
