Quebec Deputy Premier Lise Thériault, also the minister responsible for the status of women, is on an economic and diplomatic mission to the Maghreb region.
Accompanied by several businesswomen, Thériault aims to promote Quebec women’s entrepreneurship and strengthen Quebec’s commercial relations with Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.
During this mission, which will run until July 9, Thériault will be supported by a delegation composed mainly of women entrepreneurs, including Danièle Henkel.
The rate of women entrepreneurs in Quebec has risen from 20 per cent in 1976 to 39 per cent in 2016. In addition, about 16 per cent of Quebec businesses are majority-owned by businesswomen.
Political meetings are planned to explore opportunities for Quebec to increase its trade and bilateral and economic relations with the Maghreb.
